Hi John I am the secretary for the Wellington Rotary Satellite Club and although a long standing Rotarian I have not been exposed to the setting up of a new club. We run under the umbrella of the Wellington Club and understand that they will compete certificates of currency for our initiatives (that is yet to be confirmed but if not the case we are happy to do our own. I am an ex insurer and familiar with liability insurance but not sure to what degree we need to declare activities. We currently have a programme running at a local school where our members and other volunteers are reading to (and being read to) primary school students under the supervision of the relevant teachers. The volunteers have all been Police Vetted so we are complying with the NZ education requirements. Also we are looking at establishing some sort of service where two of our members (with HR backgrounds) would hold workshops to help steer people in the right direction when job hunting. Additionally there is a possibility that we may engage with the local food bank to provide support to their customers by way of financial guidance, help with food choices, looking at obstacles people are facing in todays climate. Do these activities need to be declared? Your advice would be very much appreciated. thank you regards helen
