Hi Amanda,
Our club is in decline due (we think) to infirmity and advanced age. The average age of our 25 members is 73 years.
We are currently undertaking the first major project for many years and it is a constant struggle to get things done.
As far as we can tell (subject to a diagnosis from someone such as yourself!), the problem is not indifference or lack of motivation. Many of our members would love to assist but simply are not robust enough to do such things as set up marquees, door-knock businesses for sponsorship and move tables and chairs.
We think there are two things to do, namely 1) a survey of our existing members about what they want from our club, and 2) a program or initiative to attract (preferably, much younger!) members to our club.
Can you help and, if so, how would you go about it?
I trust that the tyranny of distance can be overcome by Zoom, or similar service?
Our club is not short of ideas about what to do, but fears wasting its valuable and limited resource of time and effort proceeding down the wrong path.
Kind regards,
Derek Norquay

One Response
Responded to initial query by email and set up a phone.
Had a 30 min phone call with Derek about the current status of his club, also reflected on similar stories with nearby clubs.
Discovered club is based in 9620 so do not have access to some RSP mechanisms such as RCG/RCL – sent email with some tools and links for more information and agreed to be available for further support.
